TOP 5 trips that you can enjoy in Istria

Istria is full of beautiful beaches with clear blue water. This part of the island offers a lot of trips around the area, by boat, car or on foot.
There is a beautiful and almost untouched nature, and it would be a shame not to discover it. For example, you can be inspired by our practical tips:

Pula and Roman amphitheater

The largest Istrian town is Pula. You can sit on the promenade in cafés, wine cellars or restaurants. It also boasts a rich history and beautiful beaches with clear sea. In the heart of the historic city is a Roman amphitheater with an absolutely impressive view.

In the basement of the arena there is a museum (free entry), which maps the history of olive and vine growing in Istria. The amphitheater in the summer months continuously organize events, opera, theater and gladiatorial performances (program must be established in advance).

There is often a long queue to enter the amphitheater, but do not be discouraged, its course is very fast. The ticket price for an adult is 50 kn (approx. 6.85€ ), for children 25 kn (approx. 3.42€).

Boat trip to Venice

You can enjoy catamaran day trip to Venice. The distance from the port of Umag to Venice is 93 km and the journey takes approximately 2.5 hours. It departs at 7 am and returns around 8 pm. You can end the trip with a pleasant dinner on the coast.

This trip will cost you 520 kn (approx. 68.5 €) for the return trip, the price includes a bus to the boat and a guide.

If Umag is far for you, you can also sail from Pula, Poreč and Rovinj at a similar time sets off a slightly larger boat for 76 € for an adult, also with a guide included.

Kamenjak

Kamenjak can be found about 10 km from Pula, right in the southernmost part of the Istrian peninsula. In addition to ideal places for sunbathing and swimming, this part of the island offers many bars, restaurants and playgrounds.

Boat trip to national park Brijuni

In Pula, take a bus to Fažana, 8 km away. This regular direct connection is also the only public one and the journey takes about 20 minutes. There are also several variants with a guide, you can find the offer in almost all information centers in the surrounding cities.

Brijuni National Park consists of two large and several smaller islands, a total of 14. You can see the untouched nature and crystal clear sea. There is also one of the largest golf courses in Europe.

City Rovinj

The town of Rovinj breathes peaceful, unhurried Croatian life. It used to be an important port, a city of fishermen and sailors. You can stroll through the small streets, shop or enjoy a romantic lunch in one of the taverns. Many people visit this place even in the winter months.

The journey is not difficult, for example, from Pula the bus journey takes about 40 to 50 minutes and the price of one ticket is 33 kn (4.5 €).

If you decide to drive, it is only 67 km from Umag and 36 km from Pula. You can choose a highway or a side road through the villages.
